AutoCAD Features

AutoCAD Verticals

Several vertical programs have been developed by Autodesk to provide specialised versions of AutoCAD. AutoCAD Architecture allows architectural CAD designers to draw 3D objects such as walls, doors and windows using intelligent objects instead of forming these objects from simple lines and circles.

Data can be programmed to represent specific architectural objects used by the construction industry. Pricing, materials estimation, and other values related to the objects represented included can be extracted for estimation purposes.

Other AutoCAD tools allow designers to creat standard 2D drawings from 3D architectural models. Civil Design, Civil Design 3D and Civil Design Professional versions allow reusable data-defined objects to be used which enables frequently used civil engineering calculations to be computed and represented easily. Alternative examples of industry-specific CAD applications based upon the AutoCAD platform include AutoCAD Mechanical, AutoCAD MEP, AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD Civil 3D, AutoCAD Map 3D, AutoCAD Structural Detailing and AutoCAD P&ID.
